Being, Belonging and Becoming explores the very important spiritual dimension of justice, as a cornerstone for suicide prevention. It uses human rights concepts and self-defence techniques as foundations for empowering participants to promote and protect their individual and collective right to a strong life, socio-economic security and a sustainable future, for this generation and the next.
The Being, Belonging and Becoming workshop provides organizers and participants with a forum and a framework in which to build engaging, innovative and effective tools for suicide prevention.
Whereas suicide is a complex problem involving bio-socio-social and spiritual factors, and can be positively influenced by changes in societal values, attitudes and practices, our goal is to provide participants with a safe and confidential forum and framework, that will allow them to share their unique experience with the social and systemic issue of suicide, collect and analyse this knowledge, and develop tools for preventing and responding to crisis situations in the home and the community.
This experiential workshop allows participants to acquire practical knowledge of human rights legislation in relation to the individual and collective right to life, socio-economic security and self-determination.
Self-determination is the key concept to enabling participants to push through periods of long-suffering and seemingly impossible circumstances, to transform difficult challenges into remarkable life changing experiences.
